On the vine cherry tomatoes are more popular than their regular counterparts due to their natural sweetness. They are the perfect garnish for appetizer platters, added to stir fries to add a touch of sweetness, or roasted whole on the vine. The tomatoes are best in fresh sauces paired with garlic, summer vegetables and dried Mediterranean herbs.
Vine tomatoes are high in Vitamin A and C, folate, potassium and dietary fibre. The fruit is rich in antioxidants, lowers high blood pressure, improves cardiac health, relieve constipation, improve skin conditions and eyesight.
How to know when the fruit is ripe
Vine tomatoes should be left out in the open to ripen. When ripe, it will have a sweet tomato fragrance and become slightly softer. It’s best enjoyed when it is not too soft i.e. the fruit still has some bounce when you give it a soft press.
